Sainsbury's UK School Games : Welfare

The UK School Games wants to ensure that not only do all participating athletes enjoy their experiences and perform well but they do so in a safe environment.

Working with the Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU), the UK School Games has a Welfare Plan that is annually developed in order to reflect the needs and support given by the host city but that also;

• Supports the sharing of best practice and education in safeguarding practice, and
• Raises the standards in safeguarding practice and welfare planning for events across the sports sector.

Sainsbury's provides £10 million investment for School Games. Department of Health strengthens investment with additional £14m. adidas signed up as official kit partner.

Chief Executive of the Youth Sport Trust, Sue Campbell, joined Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport, Jeremy Hunt and Lord Coe at the Aquatics Centre to announce details of the 2012 School Games national event, taking place in the Olympic Park later this year.
