Sainsbury's UK School Games presents... the competitors Day 6
In the lead up to the Sainsbury's UK School Games this Thursday we are looking at some of the athletes who are competing in this year's events. Across the weekend there are ten sports taking place in Gateshead, Newcastle and Sunderland, one which is, fencing which is being held at the Sunderland Silkworth Community Pool, Tennis and Wellness Centre.
18 year old Chris Hay will be competing in the fencing events at the Games for the fourth time in 2010. From the past three years he has achieved four golds and one silver medal from the Sainsbury's UK School Games. He has been fencing for seven years and has competed for the Under 17 GB squad since he was 13 years old. With years of experience in fencing it is no wonder that Chris has a number of UK School Games medals under his belt as well as being the British Under 18 Champion in 2009 and 2010 and the Southwest Senior Champion in 2009 and 2010.
Chris has just completed his studies at Richard Huish College and is looking to use a gap year to progress further in his sport. An experienced fencer, Chris is certainly a name to watch out for as he competes for the England team this coming weekend in North East England.
Fencing forms one of the ten sports being competed for at the Sainsbury's UK School Games 2010 and commences on Friday 3 September at 12:30pm.
