UK School Games Champion Ambassador selected for the swimming World Championships

Former Coventry UK School Games gold medalist Emma Wilkins has been selected 2009 World Championships in Rome.

Now swimming for the Plymouth Leander club, Wilkins will be in be amoungst a team of 40 swimmers, including double Olympic Champion Rebecca Adlington and Olympic medalists David Davies, Keri-Anne Payne and Jo Jackson. Wilkins also combines her swimming career with a position as UK School Games Champion Ambassador where she acts as a role model to young athletes

Will Roberts, UK School Games Development Manager said "The selection of Emma Wilkins for the GB team at the forthcoming World Championships is a fantastic achievement for her and shows what a springboard the UK School Games can be for the UK's most talented young athletes. Having reached the pinnacle of the sporting pathway in the UK, Emma is now well prepared to take on the very best in the world.

Since winning gold at the 2007 UK School Games in Coventry Emma was awarded the role of UK School Games Champion Ambassador and her ongoing achievements make her a fantastic role model for other young athletes. The Youth Sport Trust and all involved in the UK School Games wish Emma the very best at the World Championships."
